Understanding Why Cheap Earrings Discolors
If you’ve ever had a piece of jewelry that leaves a green spot on your skin I’m sure you’ve wondered what the cause is. Most Often ~ your skin is reacting to basic metals to everyone who wears inexpensive jewelry.
This occurs to some faster than others~ though, because everyone’s skin is different.
Truth be told expensive jewelry can turn you green too; reason being even the expensive stuff isnt pure; no matter how much gold or silver is in it. Platinum rarely reacts with skin so not to fear if you buy platinum jewelry. If you have gold jewelry and want to stop it from reacting to your skin be sure its not made from cheap metal and then plated – it has only a very fine coating of gold over top of a base metal that will wear off. For jewelry made from solid gold choosing a higher karat will help keep green spots from showing up on your skin. Copper jewelry will also turn your skin green and you’ll have to just accept that if you wear copper.
Try to avoid wearing jewelry when you’re sweating a lot it can increase the green skin effect you can also get a special coating put on – in order to try to stop the reaction or minimize it. If you do this you can wear inexpensive jewelry whenever you want.
Don’t forget; the green effect won’t hurt you. It’s a chemical skin reaction and not allergies.
Allergies (such as those to nickel) causes reddening and also will make your skin inflamed and itchy. Which is a far cry from green skin. If you do show signs of allery stop wearing the jewelry. If all you have is green skin you are safe to keep wearing the jewelry you’ll just have to keep the area clean so its not ugly.
At the end of the day coating your jewelry is usually the best option.
