It focused on the exploits of a group of residents (a few ex-convicts among them) living in a Nova Scotia trailer park. The program ended in 2007 with the final episode, “Say Goodnight to the Bad Guys”.

Enterprising Criminals

The premise remained the same throughout most of the episodes. The main characters’ lives centered around getting high, getting rich and not going to jail. Their plans, however, were routinely ruined by their trailer park supervisor, a former cop, and his dullard assistant (with their own stupidity contributing to their regular downfall). The first few seasons would begin with the Boys being released from jail, and being re-incarcerated by the finale.

Crew Included in Cast

Shot as a mythical documentary, the camera and sound crew often became enmeshed in the plot lines of this Canadian cult classic. The cast frequently addresses them directly; a crew member is even shot in one episode. The use of ad-libbing in the script, worked around basic plot lines, made Trailer Park Boys season 3 seem fairly convincing as a documentary, as did public service announcements that were filmed by cast members.

The 3rd season of Trailer Park Boys follows characters Ricky and Julian into some of their more advanced criminal schemes. Released on DVD as a two-disc set, Season 3 (shot in 2004) also includes interviews with cast members as well as creator Mike Clattenburg, whose idea began in 1999 as an independent film shot in black-and-white. It was favorably compared to the British hit comedy The Office, and has also spawned a motion picture of the same name, with a second film currently in production.
